Tahitian Pearls
Tahitian Pearls. The Polynesians have many tales about the creation of these beautiful pearls. One story tells of a god coming to earth on a rainbow to meet his love, as he traveled along, pieces fell from the rainbow, mingled with the moonlight and fell into the sea to become pearls.
Another tells of this same god offering this pearl to a beautiful princess of Bora Bora as a sign of his love.
My favorite is when the moon entices the oysters to the surface of the sea by shining its light upon them, and the moon impregnates them with heavenly dew. Polished with time this drop of light holds the heavenly light within its heart., wrapping itself in a garment that glistens and sparkles with the blues, greens, pinks and golden colors of all the fish that swim in the tropical sea.
Black Tahitian Pearls, revered for their beauty and rarity, and always associated with love.
Seemingly created by some magical presence in the aqua colored waters of the South Seas, Tahitian Pearls do have a mystique that remains long beyond the reach of words.
